When you choose a therapist/trauma professional, you should keep in mind that skilled professionals are licensed with Professional Regulatory Bodies that recognize their practice specialty.
These bodies regulate professional practices, to ensure that a high quality of service is offered to the public, and that those professionals hold to a certain standard of care. There are regulatory bodies for medical practitioners, dentists, accountants, engineers, lawyers, occupational therapists, registered psychiatric nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and professional counselors, just to name a few.
To assist you with verifying the status of a therapist's license, we have provided a listing of Licensing Boards registered in the United States and Canada. Many Boards offer online license verification. However if the Board in your state or province does not offer online verification we have provided a comprehensive list so you can contact them.
If you are going to enter into a contract for service with a professional listed on TraumaLine1, we recommend that you verify the therapist's current license status to ensure they have the training, skill sets and licensing to offer you appropriate service.
The practitioner's Licensing Board would also be able to let you know if there are any outstanding ethical concerns or legal matters related to the therapists's practice that they are aware of.
